We have all headord of ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act which have been in place for many years. This is a valuable program, helping those American with challenges that most of us never even think about in our daily journeys. Now add the ADAAG, which is the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines. This is a combined effort with ANSI, American National Standards Institute, ADA Advisory Council and the IBC, International Building Codes. Now if this doesn't confuse you, the outcome just might put you back on your heels. What does this all mean? All ADA covered facilities from federal, state, local and even private buildings that provide public accommodations, must revisit their current ADA program. Your signage can remain in place until March 15, 2012, or longer if it still applies to the new standard. So you have been given some time to comply. This is a very complex new guideline and it would be very beneficial to hire a professional Sign Company to work with. Those who decide to go on their own, as history shows will be held liable for any and all shortcomings. Visit www.ada.gov/2010ADAstandards_index.htm  for Department of Justice Regulations. Use this time wisely, to be prepared.
