At C2 Tactical of Phoenix, AZ, we believe responsible firearm ownership needs to include continuing education and practice. Our OA Demo Day gives people an opportunity to delve a little deeper into defensive handgun training while exploring important skills like safe handling, situational awareness and decision-making. This course is a natural extension of other classes we offer in handgun training, concealed carry, and private lessons.
We believe effective handgun training starts with mastering the fundamentals. Our courses start with emphasizing things like establishing a stable grip, practicing consistent trigger management and maintaining a balanced position. This gives Demo Day students the opportunity to develop greater control and confidence with firearms handling.
Our instructors help students understand key fundamentals. Starting with the proper grip helps manage recoil, while deliberate trigger control supports consistent shot placement. We also help students understand how stance and balance also contribute to safe, controlled firearm handling.
From there we work on positions designed to provide stability while preparing them to move safely when appropriate. Ingraining these firearms fundamentals first gives students the foundation they need for more advanced instruction.
We also believe defensive handgun education needs to address the practical firearm handling skills. This includes things like drawing from concealment, making magazine changes and responding appropriately to firearm malfunctions under instructor supervision.
Instead of treating these skills as isolated movements, our instructors approach them as part of responsible firearm handling. This helps students learn how consistency, awareness and safety procedures all work together in synergy.
Our training programs also work to introduce movement, positioning, and use of available barriers to replicate real-world settings. This helps students take the lessons from knowledge to application with confidence.
Our instructors also address situations where a shooter may need to operate a handgun with one hand. The goal is to emphasize the importance of maintaining control and following safe procedures even when circumstances change.
These technical firearm skills are only one important part of our responsible defensive training. As the lessons progress, we touch more on situational awareness and decision making. This includes helping students understand how to recognize potential hazards, while constantly evaluating their surroundings to make responsible choices if a situation escalates.
Another segment of the demo training involves effective target identification techniques. We demonstrate how to discern a target and how to remain in a defensive situation when called for.
Our instructors will also cover the additional challenges presented by low-light environments. We’ll touch on techniques from some of our training programs, including the responsible use of handheld and weapon-mounted lights. This helps students make better informed decisions in poorly lit areas, rather than reacting.
Demo Days like these are designed to provide a taste of what our training courses dive deeper into. We offer a wide range of courses starting with basic handgun training and safety, as well as concealed carry courses. We also offer rifle and shotgun classes, private shooting lessons and specialized educational programs.
If you’re thinking about attending our OA Demo Day in the Peoria, AZ, area, we invite you to use the event as an opportunity to learn more about responsible defensive handgun training. We look forward to seeing you there!
