Finding fulfilling work that makes a real difference in people’s lives can be very rewarding. If you have a caring, compassionate spirit and want to help provide specialized care and support for those recovering from behavioral health challenges, an excellent opportunity awaits with Orion Homes.
What Does a Caregiver Do?
As a caregiver with Orion Homes, you would work directly in one of its comfortable residential homes, providing around-the-clock care and supervision for the residents who live there. Picture yourself pitching in each day with things like choosing outfits, ensuring cleanliness is top-notch, and managing medication for someone who needs that extra bit of care. In addition, you’ll be participating in resident wellness plans and social/recreational activities. Caregivers also help transport residents to appointments and engage with visiting friends/family. It’s about partnership here; working hand-in-hand with healthcare pros like nurses and therapists, as well as allies in social work, helps each resident inch closer to self-reliance every day.
This job asks you to bring your A-game by sticking it out through thick and thin, putting yourself in someone else’s shoes easily, and taking charge like nobody’s business. Yet, think about the perks – like giving folks a leg up in life by sprucing up their environment and encouraging growth that matters to them personally. One caregiver who has dedicated a decade of her life to this vocation remarks, “I love the work Orion Homes does for our residents.” For people with deep empathy for those they serve, this incredibly rewarding profession allows them to define accomplishment in ways few other careers currently do.
