We recently completed a project in Waterloo, Ontario requiring the installation of over 300 signs including suite numbers and all directional, fire code and amenities signing. The client is a developer of luxury high rise student accommodations. That’s right, the words luxury and student now being used in the same sentence – my how times have changed since I went to University! The install was a challenging one as the construction of this 18 floor building was running behind schedule so we were in there with our hard hats in tandem with hundreds of other contractors working on our ‘little piece of the puzzle’. While we were able to complete our requirements on time it became apparent shortly after that the signs, which were made in the U.S. directly for the developer, met U.S. fire code regulations but not local City of Waterloo fire code! No worries, as we were able to work quickly and had fabricated an additional 72 signs that were required by local fire code, thereby allowing for students to move into the premise for the start of the school year.
