Last week, Impression Signs and Graphics hosted two student days for graphic designers at Dunwoody College of Technology.
Inviting students to our office to observe the process of design and print production helped them envision a future of bringing their creations to life for their own future clients.
We began by talking to them a bit about entrepreneurship, pre-press, production and color theory. In between questions about our designer’s experience at Skills USA and how to be a great designer we began cutting some personalized Dunwoody stickers for our students.
Once our vinyl plotter was done cutting it was time for our students to put their skills to the test; How to weed, mask, and apply their own vinyl.
It was such a challenge that none of the students in our first group could complete the task. The second group however had about a 60% success rate. Regardless of their success rate, we sent everyone home with stickers. A few students also took home an original design from our award winning designer Ryan Mohler that said “Git-R-Dunwoody”.
We had a blast sharing our print, design and production ways. We think most of the students enjoyed it as well. Especially the one who couldn’t wait to apply her sticker to her laptop.
We can’t wait to do it again.
