Our team of plumbing professionals received a call from a homeowner in Nashville, Tennessee. They were remodeling their basement and determined that a bathroom complete with a toilet and shower would justify transforming it into some comfortable living space. The job would have to be carefully executed, seeing as how plumbing through the wooden structures of your home is very much different from plumbing through thick, solid concrete slabs.     The first order of business was to locate where the fixtures were going to be located. This would help determine where the drains would then have to go. Once the plans were together, it was time to immediately dig out the concrete surrounding the pipe area. Not only would this have to be done carefully to keep the concrete as intact as possible, but it was detrimental to avoid any piping already found in the concrete. After the drain was cleared and installed, the pan liner was installed.     For a more beautiful aesthetic, the homeowner decided to go with a tile walk-in shower. To do this, sheetrock needed to be installed on the surrounding walls. After securing the sheetrock, tiles were put in place all along the walls down to the edge of the pan liner and drain. With the rest of the pieces being installed, it was time to move onto the toilet installation.     The same process was followed for making a space for the toilet drain. Breaking the concrete had to be done carefully so as not to make a large amount of cleanup and repairs, but also to be careful of any plumbing in the concrete. It wasn't much longer until the toilet installation was ready and the Nashville homeowners were happy with their new downstairs bathroom (they admitted they thought it was near impossible!).     If you have a downstairs area that needs plumbing fixture installation in a concrete slab, give our expert plumbing technicians a call at Better Homes & Windows today!
