Business Coach Helps Firms with Time Management
In any profession it can seem like there are not enough hours in the day, but this can be especially true for people in the legal field. Between research, case work, meeting with clients and court dates, keeping up with the endless to-do’s can fill any schedule to the breaking point.
Since this is the case, being an expert time manager as a legal professional is key. This is even more true in family law firms which don’t always have the same resources or support staff which larger firms might enjoy.
As a business coach in South Florida, I have worked with companies of all sizes and industries, including law firms. It’s my role as a coach to work with a company owner or executive team to combine my corporate expertise with their knowledge of and passion for their industry to ultimately help the company reach its goals.
While my coaching is always tailored to meet the needs of my clients and I can offer many services including strategic planning, policy creation, leadership training and more, almost every client requests or needs some guidance when it comes to time management.
I usually focus on three important areas when we begin discussing time management for any company, and we will cover these here to give you an idea of how we can help most effectively manage your time as a family law firm.
Goal Setting
Setting your company’s goals and having a deep understanding of them is essential for success in the business world. When you don’t have clear goals which are shared by your stakeholders, you can’t have a sense of direction. So many times companies get bogged down in the daily grind of running their businesses, they forget to take a step back and move in the right direction. When we set attainable and measurable goals, we can ensure our time is devoted to the right things.
Priority Management
Once we have goals, we can shape our schedules and priorities around these goals. The use of priorities in time management is key, because you should focus the majority of your energy on the things which help you advance your mission and reach your goals. I work with clients to analyze their schedules and help them get in the habit of taking the time to truly understand what matters and what can be delegated, automated or removed from the schedule altogether.
Use of Resources
In a smaller firm, you might be limited on your resources when compared to your competitors. For this reason, you must work smarter when it comes to time management. This solution looks different for any business, but we work to determine what areas of the business could be outsourced, automated or delegated in order to allow the owners and key employees to focus their energy on important tasks. Having the proper resources in place can make managing a schedule much easier.
If you are struggling to keep up with case work and provide a high level of service to your clients, I want to help optimize your time management. Give me a call or fill out the form on my website to get started today.
