Recently, we made an illuminated outdoor building sign for FRWD of Minneapolis, Minnesota. FRWD is a digital marketing firm that blends strategy consulting, agency execution teams, media programs and powerful performance metrics, to empower clients with big results, and enable their brands to keep moving forward, whatever the future brings. FRWD came to us because they wanted a cool sign to match their image.
Not only did FWRD want a sign that would look great in the day, but they also wanted one that would look amazing at night, yet not come off as too overpowering. So to build a sign with pop and controlled illumination, we first developed an aluminum backing so serve as the bottom layer, and painted it with their corporate yellow. Next, using stand-offs, we mounted P95 subtle clear acrylic that was drilled to allow for the letters to be attached. Last, we attached channel letters with "FWRD" from their logo.
Not every project is simple, and this case was no different. Because FWRD is located in the historic section of Minneapolis, there were lots of challenges with permits and allowable sign attributes to overcome. The historic district rules did not allow a sign that was transparent or that lit up, other than just the channel letters themselves.
For an area with such strict rules regarding limitations with signage, we are proud that their sign still gets rave reviews from so many of their clients.
