There are many factors to consider when determining how many signs a restaurant should have. The size and layout of the restaurant, the type of cuisine, and the clientele are all important things to consider. Front Entrance The first place to put a sign is right outside the front door. This sign should be big and visible, making sure potential customers can see it from a distance. The sign should also include the restaurant's name and logo, allowing people to identify it easily. One of the best types of signs for the front entrance is a channel letter sign. Channel letter signs are three-dimensional letters which are individually lit up. They can be customized with the restaurant's colors, logo, and name. Another sign product for the front entrance is an awning sign. Awning signs are made from fabric and are typically hung above the door and can include the restaurant's name, logo, and other information. They make the entrance more visible and inviting as well as protect guests from the rain. If restaurants have a lot of foot traffic, a cabinet sign displaying the menu is a good idea. Cabinet signs are made from a metal box with a glass front. They're illuminated from the inside, so the menu can be seen in dim lighting. Dining Room Once customers are inside the restaurant, there are places where signs should be installed. If the restaurant has a bar, it might be a good idea to have a sign which reads "bar" or "lounge." Neon signs and lightbox signs work well for the bar and lounge areas.  They are made with gas-filled glass tubes which are bent into various shapes and writing. Lightbox signs feature a metal box with a with a light inside. The front of the box is covered with translucent vinyl, so the light shines through. Lightbox signs are less bright than neon signs and offer a more subtle glow. Restrooms Signs for both men's and women's restrooms should be easy to see and read. These signs should also be big enough to allow people to see them from a distance. An ADA-compliant identification sign is best for this application. ADA-compliant signs meet the specifications of the Americans with Disabilities Act. They have raised letters and braille, making it easy for people with visual impairments to understand the signs. They're also made from materials which won't corrode or fade. Exit Signs Finally, all restaurants should have exit signs. Exit signs are required by law in most states, and help people find the exits in an emergency. Exit signs should be illuminated and easy to see. They can be battery-operated or wired into the electrical system. At FASTSIGNS® of Mesa, AZ, we specialize in custom signs for businesses like restaurants.
