Recently, we were contacted by the owners of The Bread Pedalers Café and Bakery located in West Allis, Wisconsin. They contacted us because they needed a wall sign for their new business and didn’t know where to start. You can see from the photo, we were able to assist them and get them exactly what they wanted.
The Bread Pedalers is owned and operated by Samantha and Skylar Schneider, both, professional cyclists. The bakery and café feature a menu of small batch crafted bakery items. You would do very well stopping in and grabbing some fresh bakery. When Skylar contacted us, she wasn’t sure what they could do for an exterior sign. She had an idea of what she would like but was unsure where to go with that. We contacted the City of West Allis and talked with them about what we wanted to do. They guided us in our design to ensure that we complied with the local sign code. We then returned the sign code to The Bread Pedalers and worked with them on their design. This ensured we would get the permit quickly without going to a Sign Committee meeting. Pretty cool.
Once we modified the design to meet the bakery’s expectations and the sign code, we submitted for the sign permit. Here is the magic of working with the municipality BEFORE we present the permit; we had the permit 24 hours after we submitted the necessary paperwork! It was beautiful.
The sign is made from single source ½” black acrylic. We machined the acrylic on a standard table CNC machine and finished the edges with a simple round-over bit. By flipping the letters over, we were able to drill and tap 1” inset studs to assist in the installation of the acrylic.
On installation day, we applied a simple template to the wall, drilled out the necessary holes, and added a bunch of construction adhesive along with 3M bonding tape. This way, the tape holds the sign in place while the adhesive cures, usually 24-48 hours.
Samantha said they were very happy with the sign and that several other businesses had asked who did their sign because they were looking for someone. That is where Optimum Signs shines. Most of our customers are referrals to us from very satisfied customers.
