We work with a number of franchise authorities from across the country and Cycle Bar is one of them. Most of the new locations we have done include the exterior signage, the lobby sign and a sign for the studio. Above is the sign we installed in the studio in Brookfield.
With most locations, there is a large amount of buildout that we get to work with as the site is customized for the gym but this location didn’t even have walls. We got the blueprints and the layouts for the interior signage prior to visiting the site. Everything looked so worked out. When we got on site, we realized that nothing had been done. The only walls in the suite were those of the exterior of the building. OK. I guess we start back a few steps. We went to the municipality to work through our portion of the project. The city administrator was happy to see us as we had done work for the city before. At one point he laughed when I said that it would be nice to see walls inside the suite. Evidently, the general contractor was “running behind” on the project and was working late into the evening. This is a problem when directly above the suites are luxury apartments. I don’t think I would appreciate miter saws and power nailers working into the late hours of the evening.
After presenting our permit request to the city board, we received our permits. Now we had to wait. The walls were going up slowly with electrical power following up behind it. Finally paint and flooring. We were close to being able to install the lobby sign. Well, not quite yet. There was a delay on the wall mirrors. Then the mirrors came in but there was nowhere for us to connect to power so the contractor had to cut the mirror to allow access to the circuit box underneath it. Talk about nerve wracking. The contractor left a strip of drywall open for us to mount the sign to the wall. It was tight, but everything fit.
This sign is a halo lit box sign with the name of the facility in relief. We used a red lexan lens attached to the back of the face of the cabinet. We also lit the sign with red LED’s which gives the sign the deep red color. The box is only about 2″ deep and just over 10′ long. Not a bad sized sign.
