What do you do when you have a 30′ wall and you are tired of plain white walls? You hire Optimum Signs to print and install custom wall graphics to that wall which is exactly what we did.
When we started working for this customer, they had just purchased a 135,000 square foot facility to move their manufacturing facility into. The issue was that they had large stretches of plain, white brick walls. They looked great with the new coat of paint but that seemed boring. We were brought in to fill the facility with custom wall graphics and help create a very attractive display of the wares they manufacturer.
The above image is on a 30′ wide wall in the main production area. The images were all supplied to us from the company so they were of the highest quality and perfectly framed. The images were so large that we had to set up an FTP site for the company to upload the pictures to so we could work with original images. The company uploaded over 30 images that they wanted to use 12 of so we had to provide mock ups of each image on the wall so that they could decide on which picture goes where. Now things got interesting. If you look at the photo closely, you will notice that you can see every bump and mortar joint in the wall behind the image. As a matter of fact, people still walk up to the wall and touch it expecting it to still be wet as the images look so sharp. When it came time to print the job, we had some researching to do as the walls were part brick, part block, part poured concrete and we needed a vinyl that could handle all three. We tried a number of different brands of vinyl on the walls to check adhesion, finish and the ability of the vinyl to stretch. We decided on 3M’s LX480C with Controltac. When combined with the gloss laminate, the function and appearance were the best of all the brands we tried. Our supplier checked with us three times to make sure we really wanted 20 rolls of material (54″ wide x 150′ long) and laminate. It was such a large order, they decided to ship it to us directly from the 3M warehouse. This order also consumed 15 ink cartridges (750ml each). Yeah, that’s a lot.
