Check this one out! This 54′ tour bus was bought by the Baptist College Ministry in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin to help transport members to events around the country. The bus is absolutely beautiful and lacks nothing as far as creature comforts go. The only thing it was lacking was a well designed graphics package to help advertise the college. At least, it was until Optimum Signs got ahold of the bus.
The Baptist College of Ministry has worked with a passion from the very beginning . . . to train leaders for the local church. They don’t want to just train ministers to be a leader, they want to equip ministers to be a leader who can train other leaders. Since 1998 they have been training leaders for the church offering many different theological degrees. They also offer sessions for the community to help people deal with the challenges of daily life.
When BCM dropped off the bus, we were amazed at how big the bus was. This bad boy was the length of a full semi and trailer. The graphics are just under 30′ long and 4 feet tall. Our customer has very specific color requirements for their logo. The PMS colors were really close to matching Avery Dennison colors. So after confirming that the colors were a match, we got our supplier involved and placed the order for the colors we needed. This is where it gets interesting. Avery Dennison decided that because of Covid and the slowing of business, that they would discontinue slower moving colors. You guessed it, our colors were part of the discontinuation. Ok, we can find two other colors that are very close. Nope, those were discontinued also. How about another manufacturer? They have colors that are close. Nope. They also discontinued a good number of colors. Now what? Our designers decided that with our printers we could reproduce the colors we needed. This is no small task as colors print differently depending on color saturation, gloss/matte finish, even room temperature affects the colors. Still didn’t stop our guys from identifying the correct colors, testing and sample printing the colors until we hit the colors perfectly. This was definitely not the most time efficient way of solving the problem, but it definitely was the right way to fix this.
