I love making signs like this one. This is what we call a shoebox lid sign. You would be correct to assume that the reason for the name is because the signs look like a shoebox lid. Our customer, Accelerated Analytical Labs, process medical tests from simple drug tests to corona virus tests. Needless to say they have been very busy lately.
We started with the aluminum tube frame. We used 1″ hollow aluminum tube for the frame. We wrap the frame with .018 standard aluminum to give us a very smooth surface. We rough up the aluminum a little to make sure we have a good surface to apply the vinyl to. For this sign, our customer decided on a matte finish on the sign. We always try to find a new way to dress up the sign. We could have easily printed the entire sign and been done with it. Not Optimum Signs. We decided to split the logo into three layers. We printed the black background on the vinyl. We overlaid the red swirls on top of the print. Then we took a piece of 1/4″ black PVC and used a CNC machine to cut out the outline for the name of the company. Now we printed and applied the name of the company to the PVC and applied that to the substrate. It definitely was a little bit of work but it created a great look.
These types of signs are definitely making a comeback in the last year. Many companies are trying to push customers to go with a flat or one-dimensional style sign. That isn’t going to happen with Optimum Signs. We are always pushing to exceed our customer expectations and that is incuded in the design of the signs we make. If you have a project that you need help with and your sign company is stuck with one dimensional solutions, give us a call. We can be reached at 262.289.9481 or emailed at info@optimumsignswi.com.
