There is a special place in our hearts for our American veterans, our modern day heroes. And for those that make it their life’s work to help those American’s that have served our great country, we are forever thankful. The Center for Veterans Issues are those people. They are truly doing God’s work. They are a community-based organization that serves US veterans by feeding the homeless vets, providing shelter and clothes and transitional services to help them rejoin society. These are great people.
When CVI came to us with the van, they had an outdated design that they wanted to upgrade along with a tag line that they wanted to change. So we started by talking with them about what they liked about the current design and what didn’t they like. We talked about designs they saw that they liked, what elements really stood out to them. We also got information on the vehicle and the body style. We are seeing an increase in the Ford Transits as they are extremely well equipped even the base model. The body lines are clean and make our job a lot easier. Then we went to work. We started with the color of the van because you have to take the color of the van into consideration when setting up your color scheme. Sometimes you can go with strong contrasting colors, other times you want to use complimentary colors. In this case, we used a strong platen of complimentary colors. Placement of the logo was important because they need people to see them and realize who they are and what they do. Of course the contact information and the address of Vets Place Central was critical so those in need know where to find them. Now came the tough part, to come up with a tag line that expresses the mission of CVI and Vets Place.
We started with a brainstorming session where we just sort of blurted out anything that came to mind. We took about 5 of those ideas and refined them and rewrote them, kind of wordsmithing them. We went back and forth and after a little bit, one came to the top: Helping Veterans Help Themselves. Exactly.
What I will ask that if you are a vet or if you know a vet that needs help please reach out for help. Our vets were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms and our families, the very least we can do is help them when they need it. These are proud individuals with strong work ethics and sometimes they need a little help and it is our responsibility to help them when they need it. You can reach Vets Place Central at 414.342.5000 to get help. After all, we owe them everything. You can reach Optimum Signs at 262.289.9481.
