Good afternoon everybody. Scott from Optimum Signs again. I wanted looking to show you one of the jobs we just completed here in downtown Milwaukee. This building here is owned by Northwestern Mutual Life and is on a predominant corner in downtown Milwaukee. The tenants just moved out and obviously there is a great deal of equipment inside. When they lease the space, they’re going to have contractors moving in and out of the building with a lot of equipment. we were asked to create a way to shield what’s going on inside from prying eyes. The last thing you want to do is put $250,000 in tools inside a building just to have somebody kicking a window and emptying the place.
What you’re seeing here is a removable, printed vinyl. The vinyl is printed, that’s not solid color vinyl. The reason we did this is because the windows face south. This means that they are in the sun for a great majority of the day. A true black would have absorbed so much of the solar energy, that it could have actually caused the adhesive to release. The adhesive on these panels is a non permanent or removable adhesive. We didn’t go with acrylic adhesive because that’s a permanent type of adhesive. We found if we printed a deep grey or black, we could actually cut down on the solar radiation absorption by almost 25%.
As you can see here, we used a certain amount of window space for advertising. We decided to use a height over 71″. On this side of the building here, you can see there’s a marble runner at the bottom of the windows that actually elevated the window vinyl quite a bit. As most people aren’t taller than 71″ this prevents a situation where people could look over the top of the vinyl. The gap at the bottom being 16″, kind of created a interesting little endeavor. We needed to keep the top of the vinyl parallel to the street. Not most people want to get down on their knees and peek inside. They can, but not likely. We are currently looking right now to see if the customer wanted to add a color stripe at the bottom as they were kind of hoping for a hundred percent coverage. This does happen even after supplying a detailed proof. This job took us about 2 days to print and just a little over six hours to install. So if you’ve got a space in your building that you’d like to cover the windows or create a new creative design for your windows, do yourself a favor and give Optimum Signs a call.
