When we were contacted by the franchise holder for Structural Elements located in Shorewood, Wisconsin, they were in a bit of a panic. The franchisee thought that the franchiser had taken care of ordering the lobby sign for the new location. The franchiser thought that the franchisee had cared for it. Now, they were two weeks from opening and in need of a custom acrylic lobby sign.
Our process starts with an understanding of the project from our customer’s side of the desk. Timelines, expectations and anything else that the customer is expecting from us. We have found the best way to prevent issues from arising during a project is to have as complete of an understanding of the scope of the project as possible. Do they have artwork? Is the artwork in a file type that we can produce from? Is the location for the sign available to look over and take detailed measurements? If not, when will it be? We created a profile to help summarize the project. We realized that we were going to have to move quickly.
After a site visit to confirm the measurements of the wall, we received the artwork from the corporate office. Immediately we noticed that we had an additional challenge. The color of the logo required a specific PMS color and that meant having to paint part of the logo. Our suppliers jumped at the opportunity and began getting the necessary resources moving. Within 24 hours we had a manufacturing proof and a PMS color matching chart completed and in the customers hands for approval.
Five days after approving the proofs, we headed down to the customers location for installation. This was a simple install despite all the different pieces. We used standard 1.5” dry wall studs and adhesive to mount the sign pieces. It took a grand total of 2 hours to install and clean up afterwards. Most importantly, we met our customers install date.
