When the school manager for St. Joan Antida contacted us, it was to get a ballpark cost for the design and installation for a wrap on a van that they were in the process of purchasing. We walked them through the design process from the opening design interview through the various steps in the design process. We also walked them through the questions that they needed to ask any provider for a wrap including the different types of material. We get this type of call often. It kind of surprised us when they called back to schedule the work.
We start with current marketing programs that the customer is using and try to pull elements off of that. Colors, wording, font types, possible pictures, and just about anything that we can draw from to begin the design. We also talk with our customer about what they want and what they are trying to accomplish. Once we gather as much information from the customer’s social media and from the people involved, we begin the design. This one wasn’t really anything different as they had a good idea of what they were looking for. One of the steps we take is to provide a full color proof so that we can see where the graphics fall on the vehicle. The worst thing a designer can do is to craft a design and not take the hardware, door handles and slide rails into account. You really don’t want to lose the name of the company because the name falls on top of the sliding door rail.
Once we had approval on the proof, we proceeded to print, laminate and cut the wrap into workable rolls. Most folks don’t realize that this design covers the windows that run the length of the van. After we wrapped the van, we printed the portion that covered the windows on perforated window vinyl. This product is fun to work with because you can see out from the inside, but not in from the outside.
