As Optimum Signs continues to grow, we get asked to help commercial property managers take control over their interior ADA and way finding signage quite often. The above system is one of the systems we currently carry that allows for an entire building system.
This system starts with the face plates. The plates can be ordered in a large number of color combinations. The lettering and symbols are raised just over 1/8", which complies with the current ADA standards. By adding braille, the signs fulfill the ADA standard for ADA signage. If all we need is general wayfinding, we can leave the braille off the sign. Either way, all the signs match across both platforms. With the ability to customize the signs, in this case, by adding a .25" acrylic backer with a laminated, brushed metal finish, we can deliver on a very upscale sign package.
We used two different sizes for the signs. The restroom and stairs were 9.25" x 6.25" while the elevator and a few signs that will be located in the stairwells, is the smaller 6.25" x 6.25". Both signs are mounted on a frame that holds the sign just above the acrylic backer and allows us to offset the face plate. For the tenant suites, we went with an even larger 14.25" x 9". Because this is a modular system, in the rare event that a tenant moves out, we only have to replace the face plate and not the entire sign. This reduces the cost of replacing the signs and ordering the new plate is extremely easy. We can create customer logos or just the name and suite. It is totally up to the property manager. We set the template, then we just replace as needed.
Overall, this system is a very efficient and cost effective, especially when we are installing it in a new building. No more mismatched signs.
