With the advent of the new designs in service vans, comes an opportunity to create designs that challenge the imagination. The use of color and texture allow us to push customers expectations. This was one of those opportunities. Our customer just bought a 2016 Transit for his wife to transport their three labrador retrievers back and forth to the dog park. At just under 60# each, the dogs take up a bit of space. The only issue was that the van was a stark white.
Our customer has long traveled to the old coast of California to surf the monumental waves. The last time he was out there, he saw a surfer that had a restored an old station wagon that had the wooden panels on the side of the station wagon. He loved the look of the wagon. So when he came to us and we asked him what he would like us to design for him, he remembered the station wagon. The only addition to the original design was the bright Caribbean blue color and the outline of their three dogs, which we added to the back quarter panel.
Overall this was a straight forward wrap. We removed the door handles, mirrors, and weather stripping so we could make sure that we have very clean edges. This also helps to prevent peeling as the edge of the vinyl is under the handle assembly, mirror or weather stripping. The trick with this wrap was to make sure that the top edge of the wooden panels lined up with the bottom of the windows. This makes everything look parallel. We also printed jet black to cover the area behind the driver’s and passengers doors to make it look like blacked out windows. The vinyl we used was Avery Dennison’s 1005EZ with a gloss finish laminate. The product goes down incredibly and handles the contours better than any other wrap material currently available. And when you couple this material with our HP Latex Printer, you end up with a car wrap that looks beautiful and will last a good, long time.
