Four months ago, when A&N Heating and Cooling called us, they were frustrated. They had a growing business. They had a great shop and workshop. Their customer are very happy but they couldn’t get anyone to visit their shop and make recommendations for exterior signage. That’s when Cora went online and searched for “sign companies”. That’s when Cora found Optimum Signs.
Cora was frustrated as every sign shop she talked to wanted to recommend a sign based on what they wanted to sell. After all, how can you recommend a sign if you have never seen the building? Never checked the municipal code? How about never talked to the customer about what they wanted? Seems pretty simple but also seems to be a foreign idea for some shops. When we talked to Cora, we set up an appointment to visit the building. Between the time that we first talked and the appointment, we checked out the municipal sign code for Cudahy. We noticed a large number of phrases like “we recommend” or “it is preferred”. I guessed that every permit had to go to a design review committee, and I wasn’t wrong. We drew up the design based on the sign code as it was written so that the application process should be a quick and easy process. Leave it to say that it wasn’t. It took over two months to get the permits for the building but we prevailed.
The signs consisted of a 4′ x 9′ exterior building sign that we fabricated out of exterior grade sign board (a composite wood product that does not degrade in wet climates). A printed design using A&N’s logo with contact information and we have a sign that stands out but is still very tasteful. The windows were simple cut graphics using 3M IJ35C and 8508 overlaminate.
