Custom Graphics on 20′ Enclosed Trailer for Ziebart in Milwaukee WI

IMG_4381  When you have a 20′ trailer, you can haul a lot of stuff.  But what you can also do is use that trailer as a rolling billboard to advertise your business.  And that is exactly what Nate from Ziebart decided to do.

The design was super simple — Ziebart sent it to us as their graphics are all trademarked.  The fun part was backing out close to 400 star hex screws that hold the trailer together! Because we weren’t doing a full wrap and the graphics were all cut out, we had to remove the screws first.  It’s the only way that cut graphics will stay on the trailer for a long time as rivets and screws are notorious for tenting and causing the design to fail.  We also measured the trailer multiple times as it seemed that the drivers side of the trailer was .5″ longer than the passenger side.  But after cross checking the measurements, it was true.  We started by putting down the grey metallic first.  After accounting for the .5″ difference, the material went down quickly.  Next we noticed that all the customer had was a picture of the graphics and not a template so we had to determine the proper placement of each component.  By recording the proper placements and creating a template, we ensured that the other side of the trailer would match.  Sometimes we have to get creative as the hardware for the door or a line of screws falls in a different spot from the picture and require a very sharp knife to correct.

The shield was the toughest part of this install because we didn’t have measurements to place it.  Some simple geometry solved the problem.  The products and locations were next.  By measuring from the top of the trailer, we were able to make sure that all the graphics were level to the trailer.  We do this so when someone looks at the trailer, all the graphics are level.  Some folks that don’t have the expertise that Optimum Signs does, will try to level the graphics to the ground. This is a mistake because the level of the ground can change which makes the graphics look like they are either rising or falling.

If you happen to own a trailer or vehicle that needs a fresh new look or needs to be rebranded, please call us at Optimum Signs. We can be reached at 262.289.9481 or email us at info@optimumsignswi.com.
