Our latest customer walked into our studio carrying a banner and staring at the ground. You see, they were opening their newest nail salon in two days and the only signage he had was the channel letter set on the building. He thought that he would have to postpone the opening or open without signage. When he rolled out the banner that they had, it held a surprise. A white banner with cut red letters stating “Grand Opening” with a logo that didn’t match their company logo. It was also very apparent that the banner had been used before and the letters removed because there were glue lines on the banner. Definitely not the image you want to deliver to customers.
So we were starting from scratch. Our customers eyes lit up when we explained that we can do full color, at no additional cost to them and that the custom banner above cost the same as one using a single color, cut vinyl. Wow did that change his attitude. So how about flags? Lexan signs for the monument? Pricing boards for the salon? Window graphics? ADA signs? The flood gates opened after our designers spent almost a full hour talking to him about his design ideas. They also weren’t aware that we would need to pull permits for the monument sign. Again, he was looking at the floor. I explained that we pull the permits for them as we are their sign company now. We offer complete project management on every job we do. Again, he was happy. But a question needed to be asked: When do you need these signs by? Answer: Tomorrow morning. Both the designer and I looked at each other and immediately went to the production board to see what we could do to get these signs done in time for their grand opening. Well, if we moved the van wrap that was scheduled to print today to tomorrow morning as the van isn’t being dropped off until tomorrow midday, we could squeeze the signs in. Which we did. Again, the customer was very happy. You see there was just one other additional component. Our customer spoke almost no English as his native tongue is Mandarin Chinese.
