Here are some common repairs we do to VW Golfs:
Shifting problems with high-mileage automatic transmissions
Transmission fluid accomplishes many functions for you. One function is to remove contamination from the transmission’s internal parts and hold it until you drain and flush it. Often a transmission with shifting troubles will do much better, even clear up the glitches, with a filter change and a fluid flush. Fluid holding many years’ worth of dirt will have a different viscosity than the factory intended and cause jerky shifts. Also, a previous mechanic may have used the wrong fluid in a fluid change. So before mechanical repair, we will try changing the transmission fluid.
Manual transmission: Unable to select gears, pops out of gear, gear noise
Volkswagen under-engineered Golf manual transmissions over a long period. The only cure for this problem is rebuilding or replacing the transmission. We will discuss your options, buy a used or new transmission or rebuild yours.
Engine overheating
VW-made water pumps with plastic impellers, the piece that rotates to circulate coolant throughout the cooling system. When these parts deteriorate, the pump can’t circulate as much coolant as is needed to maintain the proper temperature. Also, impeller pieces move throughout the cooling system and lodge in places that block coolant flow. This failure results in stranded motorists waiting for a tow to our shop. Bring your Golf in at your convenience to have an aftermarket water pump installed that will not let you down. At the same time, we will replace the thermostat and any perished hoses. We will ensure the coolant is flowing freely throughout the system.
Carbon buildup in the intake manifold causes a loss of power
Over time carbon builds up, causing limitations to airflow in the intake manifold. You will notice power loss and bad fuel mileage. We will remove your intake manifold and decarbon it. We will inspect the intake valves to see if the buildup extends to them and recommend a course of action.
Brake Repair-
Brakes frequently need repair because they wear as they do their job. Brake pads and rotors use up their material as they slow the vehicle. Brakes wear differently depending on your driving style. Most experts recommend yearly brake inspections. We can drain & fill your old, contaminated brake fluid to make sure you get continued driving pleasure from your Golf. As part of the brake service, we will adjust your parking brake.
