Illumination is still sometimes provided by neon tubes, but light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are considered to provide a cleaner, more efficient light. LEDs are also cheaper. And because they’re so durable, they don’t need replacing so often. It’s easy enough for a qualified electrician to install a series of LEDs inside the can. And if one should ever go out, the others keep on glowing.
