Dallas, Texas based Architectural Glass Solutions recently took part in a special project using Lumisty decorative film at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas. Lumisty is a state of the art product that has been installed in a variety of different locations and has been used for a variety of purposes in architecture and space design. The technological product has been used on both indoor and outdoor installations, adding a level of sleekness and sophistication, as well as wonder and mystery, to its environment of design and architecture. Architectural solutions such as this add depth and layers of imagination and style to installations and help complete the vision of the stakeholders involved in the architecture.
What is Lumisty?
Lumisty is a special kind of decorative film that uses special technology to blur the appearance of glass at certain angles. To the passerby, the appearance of the glass will change as the take steps across its path horizontally. As they approach one side, the glass seams clear, but as they walk across its length it becomes fully or partially fogged, covering the contents of the other side. If you trace back and forth, you will notice how it goes from clear to fogged. Basically, as the viewing angle shifts, so does the film’s transparency. Many people consider this an optical illusion. You may have seen this film installed at civic or event centers, large outdoor glass installations or on surfaces of large department stores. It has been used on a wide variety of applications including museums, banks, hotels, restrooms, bars and restaurants.
How Lumisty was Used in This Project
At the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas, Texas; Architectural Glass Solutions was able to respond the requests to hide a particular stairwell at the facility. It was decided that Lumisty decorative film was the best way to achieve such a feat while still maintaining the architectural integrity of this project at the facility. Plus, they wanted something state of the art, and the Architectural Glass Solutions team knew this product was just that. The stairwell was located near the entrance to the building’s parking garage. This installation was configured to blur the 90-degree angle and the film to appear clear at a-45 degree angle. It is very contemporary.
