Do you have windows that are high up, hard to reach, and perhaps only accessible with a ladder?
Take a look at the picture to the left. This is a home in Dallas, Texas. We recently installed window tinting film here. As you can see, these windows are not accessible without a ladder or boom pole. Most people want a lot of windows in their home to allow as much light in as possible. But, at the same time, you can run into problems with glare and excessive solar heat. So many people use window treatments, like blinds and shades and shutters, to control the sun and block it out when needed. However, having window treatments on windows this high up, can create some problems.
First, how do you open and close them. You’d have to get a little bit creative, by either adding a very long pull cord to control the window treatments, or perhaps a really long pole to be able to open and close them. For this reason window treatments aren’t typically used on windows that are high up. The preferred option is window tinting film.
Window films, like the ones that you can see installed in the image above, come in all sorts of materials and shades of darkness. They can be strong and filter out a lot of the sun, or they can filter out a smaller percentage of glare and solar heat. For this home, we installed Huper Optik’s Fusion 10 window film, which has 80% heat rejection and removes 99.9% of ultraviolet rays.
You can easily notice the difference in the image, with the left window not yet having had window tinting film applied. Not only has glare been reduced dramatically, but the films have also improved the quality of the view. Now you can really see the blue sky outside well.
There are a lot of solutions when it comes to window tinting and window treatments. You might be surprised at how affordable window tinting film can be – up to half the price of blinds or other window treatment options – and is often a more desirable option, especially if you have a nice view that you would like to enjoy as much as you can.
