We were recently contacted by Potter’s Square, in Dallas, Texas, to provide security signs for the local shops there. Potter’s Square is a landmark in the heart of Dallas, where you’ll find a triangle of shops and restaurants that have a long history in the area. It’s an up-and-coming shopping center with a diverse customer base and lots of late night restaurants and bars. Potter Square’s property manager was implementing a new video surveillance system to help shop owners maintain security, and they asked us to design security signs for various locations throughout the facilities. We made the signs with more of a classic design to match the overall look and feel of the area.
To make the signs and install them, we collaborated with each shop owner on the best placement of the signs. You can see the types of sign we made in the pictures in this article, . Most of the shop owners were looking for signs that were discreet, to match the overall look and feel they already have going. So we made the signs with a simple white background and placed the signs in visible areas where everyone can see them. The significance of the white background is to contrast well against the writing in order to make the signs very easy to read. It’s a good idea to have noticeable, easy to read surveillance signs because they let people know they are on camera and being recorded.
Some of the common businesses and places you can find surveillance signs are banks, hotels, casinos and convenience stores, but we can install these for any business, and even in residential areas like apartment buildings and housing communities.
One of the benefits of this type of sign product is fear and intimidation. It’s like a home with a sign in front that advertises an alarm system. Even if the home doesn’t actually have an alarm installed, it’s a deterrent that is highly effective. This can be a great way to help protect valuables and inventory, and deter thieves and vandals. Nowadays, thieves understand the power of video surveillance footage, and tend to avoid homes and businesses with surveillance systems.
