The traditional sloped roofs that you would find in Houston, TX uses composite shingles in order to protect to cover the roof. A flat roof is not made out of shingles or covered by shingles but instead is covered by something called a membrane. The membrane is what goes on top of whatever is supporting or whatever actually is the roof.
Roofer Coverings in Houston
There are different kinds of membranes such as a TPO. A TPO roof is basically a roll of rubber that gets put on the roof itself. It comes in large rolls and it takes multiple people to roll it out on the roof. Usually it comes in white which once it’s totally installed helps reflect sunlight away from your house or building and makes your building cooler on the inside or at least making the cost to cool it less because it’s not absorbing it’s “sending” the heat away. However, if you’re in a place where you want the heat then this might not be a great idea.
Positives to TPO Flat Roofs
The positives to TPO roofs are that they are cheaper. Here in Houston many people offer TPO roofs but the quality of the material itself that gets installed can be vastly different from one to the other. We here at Certified Commercial Roofing use a product that we feel that we can stand behind. If we wouldn’t put it on our roof we won’t put it on you.
