What Air Suspension Does
Some Mercedes models use air suspension instead of springs. It helps the car stay level and ride smoothly, even with weight in the back or bumps in the road. It also adjusts height for comfort or better handling.
The system uses air-filled rubber bags, lines, valves, and a compressor. Sensors tell it what to do. When any part wears out, leaks, or fails, the car may not sit or drive right.
When to Get It Checked
Don’t wait for a warning light. Here’s what to look for:
- One corner sits lower than the rest
- The car tilted after being parked overnight
- A rougher ride than usual
- A loud compressor that runs all the time
- Suspension warning light on the dashboard
- The car takes longer to raise up after starting
If you see any of these, get it checked. These problems won’t go away on their own.
What Can Happen If You Wait
Driving with bad air suspension can cause more damage. The car may bottom out over dips. The compressor can burn out. Tires may wear unevenly. In some cases, the car won’t lift at all, and you won’t be able to drive it.

How Often Should It Be Serviced?

Even if everything feels fine, the rubber airbags can start to dry out and crack. Leaks often start small and grow over time. A quick check can catch it before it causes trouble.
