Franklin, TN – 12-Point Brings the “WOW” Factor with a New Custom Wrap

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Over the years, we’ve learned a lot about vehicle advertising. We’ve learned that a professionally designed, custom wrap is one of the most effective forms of advertising available. So when our oldest company van was a looking a little dated, we decided to create something amazing. Here’s a look at how our van went from plain and boring to “WOW” in just a few days!

Our old 2011 Chevrolet Express cargo van had been on the road working for us for years. The van’s latest custom wrap needed to be removed, so we decided it was time to create something fresh to help market the 12-Point brand. To get this project started, we removed the old vinyl wrap. Needless to say, the underlying paint job was looking a little rough!

This van is an oldie, but a goodie. Here’s what it looked like after the old wrap was removed. Just wait until you see the new look!

We normally suggest that vehicles have a quality paint job prior to the installation of a wrap. It can sometimes be risky to apply vinyl material onto peeling paint. The material often won’t stick and paint can come off when the wrap is removed. In the case of our old van, we prepped the surface as much as possible prior to the installation of the custom wrap. To learn more about why we recommend a quality paint job, read our blog article: The Worst Paint Conditions for the Perfect Vehicle Wrap.

To begin this project, our designer created a retro wrap design inspired by custom wraps we had recently installed on the City of Franklin’s sanitation trucks. In the design, he attempted to recreate the look and feel of a 1950s or 60s magazine or newspaper advertisement.

Here’s a look at the design proof he created to show our owner prior to printing. Pretty cool design, wouldn’t you agree?!

Our graphic designer created this proof to show our owner his concept for the new custom wrap.

Once he received the thumbs up, our team printed the graphics on high performance vinyl and applied a protective laminate with a satin finish. We decided to use satin vinyl, since it is more “forgiving” of imperfections in the paint. It also doesn’t reflect light like a glossy vinyl does.

In addition to the base wrap, we also added “secondary” cut vinyl elements. These included the “WOW” and “COOL” letters which were printed on a glossy vinyl for contrast. We also added the logo and contact information on the front doors in a reflective, white material to reflect light at night. Our installers completed the installation of the wrap within just a few days.

Here’s what the van looked like after the installation was complete. We may be a little biased, but we think this custom wrap looks pretty amazing!

Can you believe this is the same old van? The new vehicle wrap has given it a new, refreshed look! Talk about getting attention!

Check out the other side of this retro van wrap. The satin finish on the vinyl material doesn’t reflect light like a glossy vinyl, so the details really pop!

There are so many cool details in this van wrap, including:

  • “For the WOW FACTOR!” and “Now … THAT’s Cool!” Taglines  – These were designed to resemble the retro text you might see in an old comic book.
  • Male & Female Faces – Images of a man’s face and a woman’s face were printed on the sides of the van with a halftone effect (comprised of small dots in 4-colors rather than continuous tones.) The halftone effect was chosen, because the 4-color printing technique was used in 1950s and 60s print. The effect also provided another layer of dimension to the custom wrap.
  • Advertisement – The design also included a woman from the 1950s talking with a salesperson about items she’s considering purchasing. Notice the two items are branded interiors and vehicle wraps.
  • “Quality VEHICLE WRAPS, Superior BRANDED INTERIORS” – Our designer included these words on the front hood, back windows and sides, because they are the core services we offer. The majority of our custom products fall within these two categories.
  • Logo, Contact Information, and Social Media Icons – This information was placed on the front and back doors.
