Historic Carnton Plantation Restoration Utilizes Post and Panel Signage in Frank…

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Franklin, Tennessee is a beautifully historic city that is experiencing ongoing restoration of the Battle of Franklin landmarks. 12-Point SignWorks is fortunate to be located in Franklin, and working with The Battle of Franklin Trust on signage in and around the historic battlefield sites. This relationship began in 2013, when we made outdoorwelcome’ signage for both the Carnton Plantation and The Carter House. We have recently fabricated and installed two additional aluminum post and panel signs for the grounds at the Carnton Plantation.

The welcome signage for the Carnton Plantation is a beautiful sandblasted redwood post and panel sign, but the new signs are designed to resemble the welcome sign at The Carter House, and are made from black aluminum. The Battle of Franklin Trust wanted the signs to tie together the two properties by using black as the background with white and metallic gold and vinyl accents, creating a uniform look between the two.

We created a “yard sign” for the first sign, to remind visitors that they need a ticket to enter the grounds of the plantation. We used 3” aluminum posts with decorative caps and channel edge fasteners to support the two-sided sign panel. For the sign, we applied metallic gold and white vinyl graphics to a 36” W X 24” H X 0.125” rectangular black aluminum panel.

The second post and panel sign was taller, and was replacing a 3-post sign we had moved several years ago, located just off the parking lot area. We used the same layout style, in taller measurements of 48” W X 26” H X 0.125” rectangular aluminum panel, applying the metallic gold and white vinyl for the graphics. We then attached the panel to two 4” aluminum posts with decorative caps and channel edge fasteners.

We made this sign single-sided, since it was installed in front of the building housing the restrooms and adjacent to the Fleming Center Gift Shop. We chose a taller height of approximately 4’ from the ground to give full visibility and clear the boxwood planted in front of the sign.

It is a pleasure for 12-Point SignWorks to work on the landmarks of our beautiful hometown of Franklin, Tennessee. The signs offer effective directional and information solutions that can apply to any business, group, or organization as well.
