Wayfinding Signage for Mid-TN Bible Belt Churches

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Having a church or worship center on almost every corner is one of the benefits of living and doing business in the Bible Belt of Middle Tennessee. At 12-Point SignWorks, we have the pleasure of working with many congregations in our area, creating a variety of vehicle wraps and building signage projects. No matter the religion, when designing signs for places of worship, one thing remains constant: People need to know where to go. We make that happen with custom wayfinding signage solutions.

Once inside buildings of worship, you’ll generally find a collection of rooms that fill a variety of different needs. For newcomers, the chapel, auditorium, or sanctuary may be easy to find; but hallways and smaller rooms can begin to look the same. It may be difficult to find a specific area until someone has been there a few times. We design and fabricate signs that make it easy by pointing the way to the:

  • Church office
  • Nursery
  • Restrooms
  • Classrooms
  • Prayer Room
  • Welcome Center
  • Elevators
  • Library
  • Church Café
  • And more…

We create custom wayfinding signage solutions that fit each individual environment, and fit in with each facility’s own unique style. We use wall, ceiling, and even floor space to create the signage that best fits the layout and design of the building(s).

Some of the options available for wayfinding signage styles are wall graphics, suspended signage, projected signage, floor signage, and exterior post and panel signage. A sample of each is shown below.

Wall Graphics

Vinyl lettering that has been printed or cut offers a simple solution for identifying areas and directing traffic to specific locations around church buildings. There is a variety of vinyl materials that can be customized to the fonts and colors desired. Each offers a cost-effective solution for helping people navigate around a building. Some vinyl products are specially designed to work on hard-to-stick surfaces, as was this high-tack adhesive vinyl used at Harpeth Christian Church, due to the low-VOC paint that had been applied to their walls.

Suspended Signage

Another option for directing people around the building is suspended signage. Mounting hardware used for the signage is customized to the type of ceiling in each individual facility. The graphics can be printed and installed on both sides of the signs, so that people walking in both directions will be able to read them and see what lies ahead. In the example below, we used a header rail and hanging hardware for easy installation on the drop ceilings in the building.

Projecting Signage

Signs that project from the wall are another two-sided option that offers prime visibility for church members and guests walking down halls and across rooms of a building. The signs can be customized with graphics to illustrate any room designation desired, including restrooms. The sample below shows projecting signs that were fabricated on clear acrylic panels with stainless steel wall clamping hardware. We added black cut vinyl graphics to the clear acrylic panels, including the icon for the restroom designations. White cut vinyl was applied over the black for the text.

Floor Signage

Floor signage is ideal for temporary advertisements, signs that need to be moved around, or for information that only needs to be on display at particular times. The custom “traffic” signs below guide parents to the correct place where they need to drop-off or pick-up their children while at church. On the pieces below, we digitally printed the various traffic sign designs and mounted them on 1/4″ white PVC with a matte polycarbonate laminate. We then installed them on posts with weighted bases.

Exterior Post and Panel Signage

It’s important not to forget what people see on the outside of the building! Just getting into a church building or worship center can be confusing, particularly for newcomers. Post and panel wayfinding signage guides people to the entry doors that will take them where they need to go. The back side of some signage can also offer directional information, or can provide a friendly message for those leaving the campus. Post and panel signage can be located in parking lots or just outside the building.

Let 12-Point SignWorks help you help people find their way around your church building or worship center. We can create just the wayfinding signage you need!
