What does the word “RED” have to do with all natural foods? It could be a color, it could be a temperature – as in “red hot,” or it could be the name of the family dog! All of these are applicable in the case of “Red’s All Natural.” When Mike, the founder, was looking for a creative way to brand a compact freezer he was gifting to a loyal customer, he contacted us for ideas. We were able to use vector images of Red's products to create unique decals for the top and sides of the freezer that branded it just the way he wanted it. Then we packaged and shipped it to his customer for him. As we worked together on that project, he mentioned that he would like a dimensional logo sign for the Red's All Natural office. We discussed a few options, reviewed a series of proofs, and decided on a 1/4” thick frosted acrylic back panel cut to a custom shape, with the logo on top. The roughly 48" W X 14.5" H panel serves as the backer for the sign and has six drilled holes for mounting the acrylic sign to the wall. We decided to fabricate acrylic dimensional letters for the logo to result in a fun optical illusion. We laser cut non-glare acrylic for each individual letter, in two layers each, the first 1/2" thick, and the 2nd 1/4" thick, making it a total of 3/4" thick. We applied red vinyl to the bottom side of the second layer, We also included some smaller 1/4" accent pieces around the curves and arches of the letters for added depth and texture on the logo. Now for the optical illusion! When you look at the logo pieces straight on or from an angle, the red color really pops! It almost looks like it's been applied to the top, or that the top 1/4" of acrylic is actually red. BUT...if you look at the letters directly from the side, they look clear. The red disappears. It’s a great visual affect that creates a fun optical illusion! So what is Mike’s story? When he tasted his wife’s homemade burritos, they were so delicious he knew they had to be shared. These famous burritos have grown into a variety of offerings available in many stores across the eastern United States. They include burritos, taquitos, enchiladas and burrito bowls that are made with all-natural ingredients, no preservatives, and meats raised without antibiotics. For these special foods, he wanted a company name that had special meaning, so he chose to name it after their beloved rescue dog, Red. We mounted the pieces to the frosted acrylic backer and prepared it for installation before shipping to Mike and his team. We provided them with six 1” diameter silver aluminum standoffs, and they did a great job with the installation of their new logo sign!
