New Signage for Church of the City’s Franklin, TN Location

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Project: A Collection of New Signage

Location: Franklin, Tennessee

Client: Church of the City

We were contacted by Church of the City (COTC) to fabricate the signage for their new location in Franklin. In 2013, COTC opened two locations, one in Franklin and another in East Nashville. The Franklin location met at Hunter’s Bend Elementary, but they outgrew the space and needed to make a change. On March 1, 2015, they had their first service in their new location at the Centennial High School Performing Arts Center off of Mallory Lane.

For this project, we were fortunate to be able to create many different types of signage that are on display throughout the auditorium space on Sundays. COTC provided the artwork for us so our design time was very minimal. We mainly needed to adjust the art to fit the specifics of each sign type. The signage included:

  • An eight foot by seventeen foot outdoor mesh banner for the entrance into the Centennial Performing Arts Center (You can see it in the photo above.)
  • Tensioned fabric walls to create display areas and temporary rooms
  • Hanging signs to designate various meeting areas
  • Custom “traffic” signs to separate different age groups and to designate stroller parking
  • Banners for the entrance
  • A-frame wayfinding signs
  • Floor graphics for KidCity that resemble manholes

These photos show a collection of the new signs that we fabricated for COTC's Franklin location.

The two photos above provide a little peak at some of the signage we made for COTC. The photo on the left shows two of the tensioned fabric walls for KidCity. The walls are self-standing and fit over aluminum frames. The printed fabric slides over the top of the frame and zips at the bottom, creating a very complete look. In total, we made five tensioned fabric walls for COTC, including one that simply has the COTC logo on one side of a ten foot wide frame. The other four walls feature the KidCity brand and colorful illustrations of buildings from our Nashville skyline.

The photos also show two of the hanging signs that we created (Infants/Toddlers and Uptown). The graphics for the signs were digitally printed on matte vinyl and mounted onto PVC. We placed a matte laminate over the vinyl to offer a protective layer. A header rail and hanging hardware allow each sign to be installed on drop ceilings in various places around the building for the meeting times on Sundays.

The photo on the right shows a close-up view of three of the “traffic” signs that we created. For each of the seven signs, we digitally printed the designs and mounted them onto white PVC with a matte polycarbonate laminate. The individual signs were fixed to posts with weighted bases.

The digitally printed manholes we created for COTC. 12-Point SignWorksThe photo to the left shows my favorite part of this project. We digitally printed 24″ diameter floor graphics that look like manholes. The manholes were printed on vinyl with a removable adhesive and slip-resistant protective material. They really add to the urban feel of KidCity!

We really enjoy projects that let us showcase a variety of signage styles, and COTC definitely allowed us to fabricate a nice assortment. From interior to exterior signage, we welcome the chance to create signs that will tie your brand together. We already have a few more signs in the works with COTC, and we hope that the opportunities to showcase their ideas continues.

If you need signage that will really stand out, let us help you with your project. Please call us at 615-595-6564, or email us today!
