Project: Wall Mural Architectural Displays
Location: Franklin, Tennessee
Client: Page Middle School in the Williamson County School District
Over the last few years, we have fabricated and installed wall mural architectural displays for the cafeterias in some of the middle schools within our Williamson County School District. We recently installed the system, consisting of two different wall mural designs, in the cafeteria of Page Middle School in Franklin, Tennessee.
If I can brag for just a moment, our Williamson County School (WCS) District ranks at the top of the 128 school districts in Tennessee. The students representing any one of the 41 schools in our district consistently earn exemplary achievement scores. We have an amazing group of teachers and staff, working hard to successfully educate and guide our youth from pre-K through high school. We are proud of our school district and truly enjoy partnering with them to make our schools even better.
The architectural displays featured in this post are part of an ongoing effort to
revitalize our local schools. For this project, the focus is on healthy food and healthy living themes, which are incorporated into layouts showing active student life. As you can see in the photos, the middle school designs portray two different stages of student life: younger students just entering middle school and older students as they approach their high school years.
The graphics, which use bright and lively colors, were designed to look like they were drawn by hand. The layout fits on twenty-one individual panels that fill a four foot high by eight foot wide space. Each glossy, clear acrylic panel is 1/8″ thick with the portion of the graphic digitally printed on the back side. Printing the graphic on back side (or second surface) protects the panels from cafeteria “stuff” and little hands that can come in contact with the mural. To mount the panels, two 8-foot aluminum C channels were attached to the cafeteria wall. The pieces were spaced four feet apart with eight cables running from one piece to the other. As the photos show, three acrylic panels were placed between each set of cables and secured with side grip hardware that clamped to both the panel and the cable. Once all panels were assembled, the mural came together as one complete graphic.
We enjoy the use of architectural display systems because they allow us to create very unique and personalized visual presentations. With so many signs around town that look the same, we enjoy the challenge of designing and creating something completely different that will really capture the attention of anyone passing by. From the design of the two graphics to the pieces of the display system, everything about these wall murals is one of a kind. That’s what we enjoy at 12-Point SignWorks. Let us create something unique for you!
