Designing Lobby and Reception Signs: 4 Points to Consider

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Lobby and receptions signs are incredibly important when establishing the wanted environment in your office or building! They welcome, guide, inform and direct staff and visitors. We’ve created a list of 4 things you should think about when designing effective lobby and reception signs!

Intensity of the Colors – Bright and vibrant colors attract the eye and draw attention to themselves. In most cases a sign with bright colors are the most successful in bringing in business, but a sign with darker colors can just be as effective when placed against a lighter colored wall (white, cream, etc.).

Simplicity – We often see signs designed by other companies that are too “busy” to be effective with either too much text or a conglomeration of contrasting pictures and graphics. We try and keep our designs as simple as possible to clearly communicate its intended message without having a potential client or customer straining to understand what the sign is trying to advertise or brand.

Fast Check – We often use the “Fast Check” test to see if the sign we designed and manufactured is simple enough to inform the public the product or service offered, but not too busy to confuse someone. Have someone take a quick glance at the sign and turn around. If they can’t tell you what the sign is trying to tell then it’s possibly poorly designed and needs revision.

Accurate – An effective lobby or reception sign needs to be free of errors or abnormalties. We do our best to make sure every detail has been looked over multiple times before production and that the customer or client is please with the design before we manufacture them!
