Up Campus Properties set up its office at 152 West Huron in Suite 100. Its management team recently connected with our shop to discuss the design, production, and installation of a 3D letter lobby sign in Chicago, IL. As an add-on to the project, the team asked us to produce a decal for a lobby presentation.
3D Designs Become a Perfect Match for a Brand Presentation
The primary focus of this project was the lobby sign. Our graphic artist developed a set of specs that combined the dimensions with the color palette that the client had selected. With this information in hand, technicians flat-cut the letters and the shape of the logo. For the symbol, we rounded the edges to soften the overall presentation.
Next, we painted the pieces in the red and blue tones that are part of the client’s corporate color palette. For the logo, technicians added an imprinted vinyl overlay that allowed for the detailed look of the symbol. Installers then mounted the individual pieces, correctly spaced, on the wall the client had indicated. A second part of the project was a decal that fits on the oversized Lego figure that is part of the wall display. It now features the corporate logo on its shirt.
The three-dimensional letters and decal create an exciting combination that gives the wall portion a finished look. Best of all, it immediately draws the eye, which benefits the company that has project images right underneath the lobby sign.
Logo Boards or 3D Letters?
Which signage design is right for you? Three-dimensional letters are a good option for most clients.
- Fully adaptable. We can cut out the letters to reflect your company’s font.
- Great for long walls. Because our technicians can make some adjustments to the sizing and spacing, these letters are perfect for longer walls that might otherwise overpower the optics of the space.
- Various materials. Choose PVC, acrylic, metal, or sign foam.
The alternative to the 3D letter lobby sign is the logo board. This sign typically features an acrylic panel that we imprint directly, treat with a vinyl overlay, or augment with three-dimensional letters. Most clients favor a clear logo board. However, some ask us to paint it so that it is possible to hide LEDs behind the edges for a chic look.
Choose Your Favorite Installation Style
For this project, a flush mount made the most sense. Depending on the material you select, we may be able to install these elements with double-sided tape specifically made for the trade. Another installation option for a set of 3D letters is the pin mount. It gives the illusion that the pieces are floating above the wall.
Also, if you have a wall featuring bricks or river stones, the pin mounts can help make up for surface differences. Some clients have opted for having us create slight changes in the lengths of the pins so that the display gives the illusion of movement. Boards can be mounted flush, with standoffs, or with airplane cables.
