Did you know that Louisville is famous for being the city most commonly associated with disco ball manufacturing? It is true! When the Louisville Downtown Partnership, in association with the “Board of Ballers,” unveiled an 11-foot diameter disco ball, there had to be the iconic likeness of Tony Manero. Since the character of Saturday Night Fever, played by the equally iconic John Travolta in the 1977 movie, could not really make an appearance, the group contacted us to create a cut out.
Life-size Cut Custom Cardboard Cut Outs
Our graphic artists chose an image that displays Travolta in his famous white suit and pose. We created the product by printing a high-quality graphic that we mounted to a sturdy substrate. Since the actor stands about six feet and two inches tall, the cut out had to meet this height. The lifelike colors and high-resolution print add vibrancy to the display that you rarely see with these types of products. Once we completed the manufacture, we shipped it to our client.
What Can You Do with Cut Outs?
At the Sherby party, our cut out was a decorative item that underscored the disco ball’s ascent. The organizers hope that they will get plenty of attention for their stunt, which in turn may help them to raise the funds needed to build the largest disco ball for a world record attempt. At this time, they have to beat the existing record of 33 feet, which they intend to do with a 67-foot diameter model.
