Tips on Choosing a Moving Company 8 | Allow Plenty of Time for Packing Prior to Your Move
Keep in mind that it will probably take longer than you think to get fully packed. In our experience 95% of the time people underestimate the time required and, as a result, they are not ready for their move. If you take responsibility for doing your own packing and you don’t finish this will add to the time it will take to complete your move. You don’t want your movers to end up working until 1am as a result!
All necessary packing should all be done before your moving day, unless you’ve discussed and agreed with your mover that it will be a “same day pack & move”.
If you decide to do your own packing, here are a number of important things to keep in mind:
- All of your loose household items should be containerized to protect your belongings and minimize the time required by the movers.
- All boxes need to have lids.
- Don’t forget to mark the cartons in a way that helps the movers deliver your boxes to the correct rooms in your new home, not the old home.
- For an office move, make sure you mark all boxes using the office numbers and cubicle spaces of the new location.
If you don’t have time to pack yourself, make sure you ask your mover ahead of time to provide this service so they can set aside ample time.
