Tips on Choosing A Moving Company 5 | Don’t Decide on a Mover Based Only on Price
Do NOT choose a moving company based on price alone. From each moving company you consider, be sure to get detailed consultations about your move with a trained moving company professional. Remember to discuss everything you plan to move, including the things stored in the basement, attic, and garden sheds. In addition to furniture, you want to make sure each each moving company takes into account the number of cartons needed to contain all of your loose household items as part of the total estimate.
In general, you should expect that most moving estimates will be competitively priced. If one estimate is much lower than the others, DON’T hire that company. You don’t want to find out later that you are a victim of a low ball scam.
If your in-home estimate seems too good to be true, it probably is. All of your moving estimates should end up within about 15% of each other. In particular, you should compare the number of hours and the number of men required and detailed in each estimate. Although the hourly charge may vary by company you should expect that the number of man hours is similar in each estimate.
When you do your research ask about each moving company’s’ experience, their references, the type of equipment that use, and how they screen and train their employees. Remember moving is a service business and the combination of all of these factors affect the quality of service you’ll receive on your moving day.
