GM Bankruptcy Answers by Lehmers | Auto Service, Sales and Maintentance Company

There are a lot of people wondering what will happen with General Motors and all their lines of vehicles (Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Chevrolet, and Cadillac).  People are wondering where to get parts and where to get service on their wehicles.  Lehmer’s Auto Repair, sales and service shop in Concord, CA can answer some of those questions for you.  Here are a few that we’re getting recently:

  • Is General Motors going to continue?
  • Is Lehmer’s staying in business?
  • Is my warranty still going to be honored?

Here are some highlights of how the coming events will unflod and ultimately affect Lehmer’s:

– After General Motors completes the bankruptcy process, the company will be on solid footing for the first time in years. It will no longer be dragged down by unsuccessful brands, it will have eliminated billions of dollars in debt, and it will be owned primarily by the U.S. taxpayers. The new company will be leaner, healthier, and quicker to adapt to the highly competitive vehicle market.

– We expect there to be about 40% fewer GM dealers in the bay area. As one of the surviving dealers, we are expecting to receive a significant increase in vehicle sales and service customers.

– We expect the Pontiac brand to be phased out by the end of 2009. With only four brands left to focus on (GMC, Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac), we can expect that GM will be more focused than ever at promoting the Buick and GMC brands.

– General Motors will continue to make Pontiac parts and will continue to pay for Pontiac warranty claims. GM wants to retain these customers within the GM family, and has announced that they are committed to continue to serve all Pontiac owners.

– GM has also announced plans to add models to its Buick lineup to help offset the loss of the Pontiac brand. Some of these models will be developed and manufactured in China, and they will help us to attract the type of buyer that currently favor Asian imports.

We are excited about the times ahead. GM will emerge a stronger company, with new product to better compete with import brands like Toyota and Honda. And Lehmer’s will have a larger market share as a result of the lower dealer count. More importantly, we will continue to have the nicest GM facility and the best staff in the Bay Area.
