Business park signs are important, displaying tenant information to clients and giving vital navigational details. Our client, HG Fenton, needed a well-made commercial sign for their business park, that would feature more than just the address numbers and business park name. We created a custom commercial sign solution, designed and built for their needs.
Considering that our client wanted to remove their current monument, we listened to what they wanted, and objects to achieve. The new commercial sign needed to have more content than just the address numbers and name of the business park. While this was a functional sign, it didn’t share any
information about the tenants, so people had no idea what they were missing out on if they didn’t drop in, particularly to the retail establishments. As you can see from our revamped monument sign that we were able to help HG Fenton promote four of the tenant businesses, and also keep these tenants content. We provided well-made, classy commercial signage with great use of grey, white, and black for clarity and simplicity.
After discussing with HG Fenton to get the details about their objectives, design requirements, and budget, we went to work. HG Fenton has apartments and commercial properties available for rent all over San Diego. They are an award-winning company, helping people live and work since 1906.
From our consultation with our client, we decided that we would create a non-illuminated monument sign. The sign we built is sixty inches high by 120 inches wide, and 12 inches deep. We constructed it on an existing six-inch concrete base. The main sign features double-sided .090 aluminum panel construction. To create an eye-catching display for the name of the park, we created a the heading in black acrylic lettering at 3/8” thick.
Knowing that tenant panels need to be durable but removable and replaceable, we created custom full-color vinyl prints, mounted on aluminum panels. There are four panels for each side. Each one is mounted to individual aluminum panels. Using exterior grade vinyl with UV laminate for the custom vinyl graphics helps to promote longevity and simple change-outs.
We demolished the previous monument sign, saving the existing concrete pad. In our design work, we made sure that we consulted with an engineer to accommodate wind load. We also worked with the City of Carlsbad for permitting, with the Planning, Building, and Traffic & Engineering departments. In addition, we updated the Comprehensive Sign Program (CSP) with the current signage allowances so that we could maximize the sign area allowed. After a 30 day review process, we could ensure that the sign was perfectly suited for the space with no hurdles for our client to jump.
