A great vehicle wrap can and should be able to handle any type of weather element. In Minnesota, we know what its means to be cold – after all International Falls, Minnesota is the coldest place in the US. And we are still able to make great vehicle wraps last for a very long time.
Mainly, it all has to do with how much care someone puts into his or her wraps. My colleagues and I will be release a lot of exciting blogs soon one for example will explain how to care for your vehicle wrap. This will include washing techniques, storage, and fixing minor tears. We understand that it can be challenging to keep a vehicle clean in minus-20 degrees, but at the same-time most people are not kicking up a lot of dust or dirt either.
Some other problem’s someone might face is the chemicals used to keep the roads free of snow and ice. These can be harmful and effect a vehicle finish, so when someone has had a tough winter it is essential to keep the vehicle as clean as it can be. If there is a carwash that runs all winter, it would be well worth it to drive through once a week. These road chemicals can slowly eat away at vinyl and could ruin the wrap.
Another thing to be aware of is to watch out for vinyl tears and holes. Dirt and grime can get trapped under the vinyl if there is a small tear. This can cause the vinyl to deteriorate and peel. Little pieces of grit can act like sandpaper over months and years. Eventually, wearing through the car’s clear coat finish and cause rusting on the vehicle. We can patch small holes in any vehicle wrap to avoid any future problems.
One of the biggest trials we have faced is applying vehicle wraps or signage when it is cold. We prefer a minimum of 50 degrees to apply the vinyl. To solve this, we keep our installation bay heated at all times. On a really cold winter day this can be difficult but when it comes to signage, we may have to wait until the outside temperature isn’t so low.
All of these issues are true for many parts of the country, regardless of climate. So keep the vehicle clean, wash off road chemicals, watch for tears and holes, and make sure that it is warm enough to apply the wrap. If you can handle these problems, you should be able to have a vehicle wrap in any part of the world.
