This year, Manda wanted to use signs at all the collection sites to let people understand what the drive was all about. When she contacted us, she had a general idea of what she wanted, but no specific requirements. Also, since this was not done in previous drives, there was not a budget to make these signs. The signs had to be durable, but easy to transport to several locations and would be handled by teenagers. She asked us to help her come up with a solution to meet these needs.
After our initial interview, we went to the drawing board, looking at various options: sandwich boards (better known as A-frame signs), a retractable stand up banner, multiple types of easels, and a self-standing sign made of corrugated plastic. We narrowed down the choices presented to Manda to the retractable banner and the self-standing signs as these were more budget-friendly as well as easier to transport and set up. Since she needed approximately 100 of these signs, the decision was to go with the self-standing signs.
We will begin production of these signs in October to be ready for the drive in the beginning of November. For more information on The Empty Stocking Fund Jr. ROTC drive, please go to www.emptystockingfund.org/DriveDay.html.

Before we even opened our doors, a unique opportunity presented itself to us. Through a family contact, we were introduced to Manda Hunt from Atlanta’s Empty Stocking Fund, a charity that provides Christmas gifts to underprivileged children. Every year, they have members of several local high schools Jr. ROTC groups collect donations at Kroger grocery stores across the metro area.
