Among the most essential office products that you can place in your venue are custom lobby logo signs. In Orange County, CA, we recently installed one such product. It was for Michael Nicholas Designs in Fullerton. You probably remember this name because we did a commercial business relocation signage package for the company. It included a monument-style sign, a “coming soon” banner, and directional markers.
When the business invited us to return for the creation of a lobby marker, we put together the product with black Gatorfoam. It is an inch thick, which creates an attractive three-dimensional presentation without being overly imposing. The black color contrasts beautifully with the cream tones of the wall. Our client did not want us to paint the foam but only add brushed metal faces for an elegant appearance. Doing so leaves the black sides intact, which maintains the visual separation from the wall. For the logo, we added a digital print to the metal’s appearance, which shows its minute details.
Next, we were called to install another lobby sign. This one was for the T2 Tech Group. This client wanted to combine the product with a replica to be displayed on the door to the office itself. This is an ingenious step for presenting and then reinforcing name recognition and brand awareness. We manufactured the products using PVC. For the door sign, we opted for a quarter-inch-thick presentation while for the lobby wall we selected a half-inch-thick appearance. We painted the products in the two tones of blue that make up the T2 Tech Group’s corporate color palette.
We highlight these two projects because they demonstrate the importance of featuring a brand message that is clear, memorable, and a perfect tie-in to already existing signage. Business owners in the know do this for three reasons.
- Build name recognition. Name recognition is the bread and butter of any company. It allows a consumer to recall the business or its niche simply by seeing a color and font combination or a logo. When you think of your regular trips to the grocery store, notice that you reach for some products simply because you recognize a font without actually having to read the text. In all other businesses, company owners attempt to create the same effect.
- Generate brand awareness. The reason for the use of jingles, logos, special characters, and standout lettering presentations is the formation of a distinct brand. The look of a product must differentiate it from similar items on the shelf. For a service business, the presentation of a corporate name and logo has to do the same. When you look at the logo displays for both Michael Nicholas Designs and the T2 Tech Group, you see exactly what this can look like.
- Boost product knowledge. The third step must help the client to connect a product or service to a name and logo. This is the reason why businesses place their corporate information on every product and available surface. From window graphics to vehicle graphics, each marketing and branding product must feature a name and logo presentation.
