Branding your practice is a necessity in growing a practice. The visual impact that a lobby sign produces can have a tremendous impact on office branding and the growth of any practice. This project was a dimensional lobby sign created for an orthopedic surgeon in Boca Raton and used as a demonstration at the Florida International Joint Institute in Boca Raton.
The development of the optimal design that promotes office branding to the fullest extent possible is a three step process. The steps are design, production, and installation. A collaborative approach is necessary in each step of the process to insure that the dimensional lobby sign makes that memorable impact on the viewer that is the essence of office branding.
Design
This project required the development of a mockup that included the client’s original logo that had been used for several years and was a part of the practice’s brand. The tag line that had been included in the logo was removed based on consultation with the client and the fact that a lobby sign did not need a tag line since the patients had already been attracted.
A paper sized mockup was created that completely matched the size of the lobby sign, the color scheme of the logo, and tested the fit for the wall the sign would decorate. This part of the process satisfied the client’s concerns about look and appeal prior to any manufacture.
Production
Each individual letter for the dimensional lobby sign was cut out of ½” thick acrylic using a CNC router once all the nuances of the design had been approved by the client.
Color matching for each letter was coordinated with the color scheme of the original logo.
This project required the addition of extra studs since the sign would be installed on a curved wall. A pattern that indicated the exact position of screw holes for the sign was prepared to minimize installation time and produce first time perfection.
Installation
Installation for this project provided a unique challenge in that the sign would be fitted to a curved wall. The perfect end result was produced suing the previously developed patterns, clear acrylic spacers between the letters and the wall to create an even dimensional look, and pin mounting of each piece prior to final installation to produce the anticipated effect.
This project is a demonstration of the value that a dimensional lobby sign can add to your office branding. The basic idea is to give any signage that you have in your office or in front of your office that extra pop that makes your practice memorable. Signs that are memorable produce buzz from your patients. A dimensional lobby sign can be as important to growing your practice as your personality and your abilities.
