Meta released Threads, a
new social media platform focused on real-time text-based conversations. It works like Twitter providing the ability to share text updates, photos, and videos. It is linked directly to Instagram. This means that it uses the same username and password to log in and can import your Instagram followers to send a follow request to all accounts you already follow.
PLATFORM FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The new platform received 10 million followers in the first 7 hours. The first impression appeared to be a good one given the fun posts and conversation surrounding the platform. However, some users believe it does not offer enough features, and Meta leaders say the challenge will be keeping users engaged.
THREADS ACCOUNT SETUP
Setting up a Threads account is quick and easy. It is connected directly to your Instagram account. You use the same login username and password. Then you have the option to use the same bio and picture from Instagram. After you get logged in, it then prompts you to follow the same accounts you follow on Instagram.
LEAVING THREADS
It requires an Instagram account first to create a Threads account. However, if you want to delete your Threads account later, you must also delete your Instagram account. You can deactivate the profile in settings, but there is currently no way to delete your Threads account without deleting Instagram.

THREADS VS. TWITTER
Amongst all the
Twitter controversy and changes, Twitter has lost numerous users over the last several months. Given the change, many were excited to hear about Threads. Threads offers a higher character limit, is new, and is connected directly to Twitter. However, Twitter offers direct messaging and a desktop version that Threads does not offer.
