On last week’s blog, we shared the latest update Google is rolling out. They’ve announced a rebrand for the listing tool, Google My Business. Along with a name change to Google Business Profile, this update will be transitioning them away from the old Google My Business app. The goal will be to simplify the user experience to help businesses have fewer steps to take.

Marketing experts around the world are taking notice as this isn’t the first time Google has rebranded this tool. Many are saying it seems like a pointless update, but either way it will have an impact on businesses, especially small businesses with one location or listing on the platform.

Now they there will be no separate app for Google Business Profile. Businesses will be able to manage their listing from Google Maps and Google Search directly. We’re sharing how you can learn more about these updates on the blog!

Another goal Google has for these updates is to provide suggestions for businesses to help boost their listing and SEO. They’ll be providing unique insights and suggestions when you type in your business name. Examples of this they’ve shared are:

  1. Adding photos to your listing
  2. Responding to reviews
  3. Post an update
  4. Share promotions

Until Google Business Profile is fully rolled out, Google has added the ability to do more things directly from Google Maps and Search, including:

  1. Claim a business listing
  2. Verify the listing
  3. Send and receive messages to/from customers
  4. Manage reviews and Q&As
