On our latest blog, we talked about the latest Facebook ads updates and changes. Since Apple Inc. recently implemented privacy changes, there’s less data being collected for marketers to use and more hoops to jump through to create advertisements. So, how do you create a Facebook ad with all the new restrictions? Now Facebook generally hates two things: personal attributes and question marks. Direct questions and direct assumptions will kill your ad and won’t get it approved. Don’t make assumptions regarding medical conditions, physical features, mental health, religious beliefs, age, financial status, voting status, criminal records, sexual orientations, and gender identities. Facebook doesn’t want its users to feel uncomfortable or as if something is being insinuated about them. For Example: Don’t say: “Are you looking to meet other Christian singles?” This implies the reader’s religion and relationship status. Instead say: “Meet Christian singles online now through our online dating service.” These guidelines might sound tedious, but they keep readers from feeling like their privacy is invaded. Stick to our advice and your ad will get approved! Our next bit of content comes from the ladies of Marketing Mix. On their podcast, they talked about some social media pet peeves! The first pet peeve is "copy, paste, share, or else" posts. No one wants to be pressured into tagging people in a post who may or may not be annoyed that they are being tagged. Plus, having a to-do list isn’t fun. Another pet peeve of ours is people self-proclaiming themselves as gurus and experts without really showing any credentials. Giving yourself titles and promising others success if they invest in you, is a huge red flag. Public shaming and doxing are additional pet peeves of ours. Seeing people picking fights or calling out neighbors and businesses inappropriately isn’t fun to see. Publishing information about others without their consent is malicious. We also cannot stand political or religious rants that get out of hand. If you’re a business owner participating, that could ruin your reputation and affect your sales. This often goes hand-in-hand with "Vaguebooking". This is when people put information out there to get attention, but they’re doing it by being super vague. These are just a few of our pet peeves.
